Werner Von Braun Memorial Dinner
In September, WID-TVC members attended the Werner Von Braun Memorial Dinner at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration.
Each year, this event honors individuals and groups by presenting several awards and scholarships centered around aerospace, engineering, science, and more.
We are SO incredibly proud of The Nerdettes FIRST Robotics Team for receiving the Rising Star Award!!! This award is presented each year to a young person or team reflecting superior performance in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). This group is such an inspiration. These young ladies are truly making an impact through their dedication to learning about the world of robotics, support of each other, and passion for giving back to their communities. Way to go, Nerdettes!!!
This event also serves to celebrate space exploration with so many that have helped make this country, state, and community so influential and successful in our nation’s space program. It was a treat to hear from Keynote Speaker Leonard David, award-winning space journalist.
Thank you to INNOVIM for sponsoring our table. We had a wonderful evening!

WID-TVC Holds June Monthly Membership
The WID-TVC June Monthly Membership was held June 14 at Rocket City Tavern! We heard from Mrs. Constance A. Hambrick, Office of Small Business Programs HQ, US Army Contracting Command.
As a passionate advocator for small businesses, Mrs. Hambrick spoke to our members on her lessons learned throughout her career thus far, in the areas of friendship, communication, obstacles, and perseverance. Mrs. Hambrick also discussed the importance of growing from successes and failures and how she measures the two.
“I measure failure by when one stops trying,” she said. “I measure success one accomplishment at a time.”
To wrap it up, Mrs. Hambrick encouraged attendees to have courage in both personal and work life as a kick-starter to success, quoting Oprah Winfrey: “You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.”
Thank you for joining us, Mrs. Hambrick!
