Women In Defense is a Community of Professionals
WID traces its roots to 1979 when a group of women saw the need for women in the defense industry and military to have a network to expand their knowledge of national security issues and the defense community. Membership in WID is open to professional women and men whose primary professional activities relate to national security. Members are typically from defense companies and other businesses, both small and large; all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, plus federal government agencies; and academia, associations, and professional services. Annual membership dues are $40. Membership dues for government members remain free for one year.

In what ways have you been involved with WID-TVC?: I have attended meetings of the local chapter and some of those in D.C. as well over the years. I have manned the WID booth at Space & Missile Defense Conference in the past and participated in feedback opportunities.
The most valuable thing about my membership with WID-TVC is: I love the networking opportunities and the tremendous amount of information provided to members.
What advice would you give to other women working in defense?: Your resume is just half of the equation, and not to forget to develop relationships with colleges.
What else are you involved in in the local community?: I am a board member for the Women’s Economic Development Council Foundation and participate in the WEDC advisory board. As a company, we have established a private fund for community and charitable support that invests in the passions of my employees and their community involvement activities. I am a member of the Greater Huntsville Rotary Club and volunteer for the community activities through our club’s outreach and assistance programs.
